Often referred to as the “sprinters' Classic”, Gent-Wevelgem (29 March) is one of the most exciting races on the calendar and plays a key role in Flemish Cycling Week.
The race is famous for late attackers trying to derail the sprint trains as a number of the world’s top fast men line up to add the title - which dates all the way back to 1934 - to their palmares.
As is the case with the iconic Belgian Classics, a tightly knit cluster of climbs within a short space of time has the potential to cause splits in the bunch. The route retains a similar feel to 2014, with nine climbs on the menu.
Team Sky head into the race with momentum following victory for Geraint Thomas at E3 Harelbeke. The Welshman is joined by former winner Bernhard Eisel, Andy Fenn, Christian Knees, Luke Rowe and Ian Stannard. Elia Viviani will be eyeing the bunch sprint, while Bradley Wiggins comes into the team for Sunday's race.
