The organisers of the Tour de France have chosen the teams that will take part in the 73nd edition of Paris–Nice (March 8–15), the 67th edition of the Critérium du Dauphiné (June 7–14) and the 102th edition of the Tour de France (July 4–26).
And the announcement hasn’t brought any particular surprises having the nationality of the races in mind. As the ASO, the organisers of these three races, are having a tradition of having French teams in the wildcards, it is visual that this tradition will continue in 2015.
In accordance with Union Cycliste Internationale rules, the seventeen teams UCI WorldTour teams are automatically invited to the three races.
And from these teams the participation list will differ from each other. The French team Cofidis Solutions Crédits will participate in all three races this year. Also the former WorldTour team Team Europcar will be there for all three races.
Paris-Nice will only give three wildcards away and the last of three teams receiving a wildcard for the Paris-Nice will be Bretagne Seche Envoirenment. These three teams together with AG2R La Mondiale and FDJ will give the French race a French twist this year. A desirable wish for the French home crowd.
The Criterium du Dauphine will see the South African team MTN-Qhubeka hit the French roads. It will be the first out of two races in France on WorldTour level for MTN-Qhubeka. The former Team NetApp-Endura, now known as the Bora - Argon 18 team, will together with the formerly mentioned Cofidis and Europcar, and the 17 UCI teams make the peloton of the preparation race for Tour de France.
The second WorldTour race for the Bora team will be the absolute biggest achievement so far for the team. The team will go with a strong line-up for Le Tour de France. Once again Cofidis and Europcar will be in France as well. Cofidis has been hanging on the edge of the wildcards the last couple of years, but the signing with the French former national champion Nacer Bouhanni of FDJ has strengthen their position in the race for the wildcards. Together with Cofidis come Europcar and Bretagne from France. MTN-Qhubeka will also appear in the Tour de France after having brought in some exciting stars from the WorldTour teams.
In the last year's edition of the Tour de France Cofidis, NetApp-Endura (Now Bora - Argon) and the Bretagne Seche Envoirentment received wildcards, so nothing changed here. The Swiss wildcard team from last year IAM has moved up on WorldTour level, which automatically grants access to the race. This means we will se all the wildcard teams from last year once again.
All in all teams with a hunt for the breakaways and teams with a hunt for the stage wins will be present in all three races taking the race to a higher level.
