Young German sprinter Jan Dieteren (Leopard) nearly created a major surprise when he finished third behind Lorrenzo Manzin and Clement Venturini in La Roue Tourangelle.
"I'm happy with the result," he told Directvelo. "The team targeted a top 5. I am a sprinter, so I was protected today. This is my best result this season. The day was difficult because of the rain. I have no regrets, I do not think I could have done any better."
