In 2015, Dennis Van Niekerk will race for Team Bonitas, an amateur South African team, who in 2011 and 2012 had a Continental license. The South African climber will return to focusing on the national calendar after four seasons with MTN-Qhubeka in which he raced a lot in Europe and Asia, achieving significant results as the fourth place in the Tour de Langkawi 2011 and sixth in the Tour de Korea 2013.
Even Bradley Potgieter, who defended the colors since 2008, MTN’s first year as a pro team, will leave the formation of Douglas Ryder to return to the South African calendar. The twenty-five year old has not been particularly significant among professionals, but his experience in European racing will still make him one of the leaders of Europcar South Africa. The number one goal of the former junior national champion will be to redeem a bad 2014, in which he actually stopped riding in April.
To be able to replace Calvin Beneke, who will go professional with Team Raleigh, Europcar South Africa has also hired Willie Smit. The former-African time trial champion raced this season with Vini Fantini-Nippo, with which he made his first steps in pro cycling. In 2014, he won the sprints classification at Tour of Dubai and was on the attack at the U23 World Championships in Ponferrada.
