Amaury Capiot (Topsport Vlaanderen) achieved one of the best results of his short career when he finished 7th as the best Limburger in the Ronde van Limburg.
"It was a hectic finale," he told Directvelo. "In the last kilometer, I was well protected but ultimately it was not enough. It was a really enjoyable race from a personal point of view. I had supporters everywhere, especially in the first two lap. I had targeted a top 10 today, my mission is successful, even if I could have aimed for more if the two attackers had not held off the peloton but they were very strong.
"At one point, I had to make a decision to follow the attacks or to focus on a sprint. I chose the second option. Furthermore, we had Sander Helven in the break, so we were fine. To be the best Limburger is obviously nice, but I'd rather look at my ranking. This bodes well for the next races . I will ride the pro kermesse in Lede and I will also be at the International Wielertrofee in Oetingen."
