The road ahead leads to the Giro for Xavier Zandio. The rider of Team Sky will support his leader Richie Porte in the "war against Contador."

The veteran Spaniard explained his build up programme to Acquadro Comunicazione, "I will participate in the Tour of Catalunya, the Tour of the Basque Country, Giro del Trentino and the Giro, if all goes well. I train at home because I have experience at an altitude that suits me well. There are 3 or 4 riders who are above the lot. Since the beginning of the season, they are in shape and will put on a good show." 

Among them, Chris Froome, who he has to work for in Catalonia. "He was not very well physically, but with rest and training, I think he will be fit for Catalunya. For my part, I have little pressure. I have to do my job, I know what I have to do."

For the Tour of Italy, after having participated in 2010 and 2013, Zandio will return. "Normally I get there. Making the final nine is never easy. The idea is to do well with Richie and Konig. I am motivated and I look forward to it with two guys who can win the race. I have not raced with Richie this year but from what I could see, he is very good and motivated. He's a pretender to victory, even if Contador remains the favorite."
